As a pilot I love any excuse to fly and what better excuse then to help a sick patient get to an out-of- town medical appointment. Angel Flight™ arranges free air transportation for people who need to travel to receive lifesaving medical treatment but lack the means. Pilots then volunteer to fly these missions.

When teeth need to be removed the metal in crowns and bridges can be recycled. Dental restorations often contain gold along with silver, platinum or palladium that can be refined and recycled. If you choose to donate your old restoration, we collect this “scrap metal” and at the end of the year the money received is matched and donated to Breast Cancer Research Foundation. So many families are affected by breast cancer, I chose this charity because my mother is a breast cancer survivor!

Going for Gold

We are proud to offer dental care at no cost for two of our favorite local non-profit residential programs, The Carying Place, and TROSA. The Carying Place works with homeless, working families and children. They offer their residents transitional housing while they are enrolled in a 16-week life-skills training program. TROSA is an innovative, multi-year residential program that enables substance abusers to be productive, recovering individuals by providing comprehensive treatment, work-based vocational training and education.

Dr. Chi’s Clinical Interests:

Dr. Yoon Chi was born in Seoul, South Korea. She lived in Seoul until 14, when her family immigrated to Vancouver, Canada. She graduated with a B.S. and Ph.D. from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. After graduation she went to the University of Western Ontario in London (Canada) where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. During dental school, she realized that she loved the literature driven ways that periodontology treats patients. It was then that she moved to North Carolina to become a Tar Heel and get her Masters in Periodontology.

While at UNC, Dr. Chi met her husband and they decided to make North Carolina their permanent home. Right before graduation she had her beautiful daughter, Emilia.

Dr. Chi loves the outdoors, including climbing, paddle boarding, going on hikes and nature walks. She has recently found a love for fine dining and indoor cycling. Dr. Chi and her husband also enjoy entertaining friends at their home and spending quality time with loved ones.
